What is drug interaction in pharmacology?

Introduction to nutrient drug interaction or drug nutrient interaction

 Drug nutrient interaction:

A drug nutrient interaction is the effect of medication on food or a nutrients in food. Drugs effect the food and nutrients in several ways:

Drugs can change appetite, effect nutritional status, effect GI function, or change the way a nutrient is absorbed, metabolized and excreted.

Nutrient drug interaction:

Nutrient drug interaction is the effect of food and nutrient on drug. Nutrients can effect drug by altering absorption, metabolism and excretion of drug.

Pharmacokinetics:

Pharmacokinetic is what the body does to drug. It refer to movement of drug into, through, and out of body.

Pharmacodynamic:

Pharmacodynamic is what the drug does to the body.

Absorption:

Process by which a drug/nutrient proceed from the site of administration to the systemic circulation.

Distribution:

Movement of the drug/nutrient from one location to another in the body.

Metabolism:

Process by which the drug/nutrient is chemically changed by the action of enzymes most commonly in the intestinal tract and liver . The metabolite may become more active, less active or as active as the parent compound.

Excretion

Process by which drug/nutrient or metabolites are removed from the body, primarily by kidney.
